Associate Pastor of Youth
Mark Peterson was raised in First Covenant Church in Omaha, Nebraska. He felt God’s call into ministry during high school. When he graduated, he attended Covenant Bible College, and continued to follow God’s direction to North Park University, where he received his degree in Youth Ministry in 2001. “I believe that youth ministry is a calling from God, not just a job.” His passion for youth and the importance of that ministry both within the church and community is apparent in all he does. It is evident as you talk with him that his priority is a “growing and following” relationship with Christ; a desire to share Christ with others so they can also have the joy of a relationship with Him. Mark and his wife, Sara, are happy to be a part of the church family, working closely with the pastor, leadership team, and youth, while building relationships within the congregation.

Organist and Choir Accompanist
Just to be different from the rest of the staff, I earned my Bachelor of Music Degree in piano and voice from Augustana College in Rock Island! 20 years after graduating from college I went to grad school at Concordia University, River Forest earning my Masters of Church Music Degree.
The interim 20 years were filled with 3 children, piano teaching and being active in the music program at Trinity Lutheran, Des Plaines. I served as Minister of Music at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Mt. Prospect for 13 years before coming to Northwest. I am enjoying the wonderful pipe organ at Northwest, the caring staff and congregation, and of course my 3 grandchildren.

The mission of the Children’s Choir Program at Northwest Covenant Church is to provide memorable, positive musical experiences worshiping God and with the church community, that will reinforce children’s sense of belonging to God’s family and participation in worship and ministry with the church and community. The goals are that the children: 1) Understand God’s love, 2) Thank God for loving us, 3) Share God’s love with others, and 4) Help others worship God.
