As part of the Christian Education of our youth, we offer a Confirmation Class for 7th and 8th grade students. Confirmation in the Covenant Church is designed to be a systematic exploration of God’s word, the history of our faith, and the importance of living a Christian life. Within the curriculum there is opportunity not only for education in biblical truth, but also for students to come face to face with the call of Jesus to enter into a personal relationship with Him, and grow in their faith. The opportunity to engage in a systematic exploration of God and His word during early adolescence is learning to think for oneself and developing one’s own identity.
Confirmation is a preparation for a life of faith to be lived out through discipleship and service in the life of a local church. As students grow in their faith, they may in time choose to become members of a church, but Confirmation is not necessarily a means to that end.
The Confirmation Class at Northwest is a 1 1/2 hour session held once a week between October and May at a time determined by the students, their parents and the Pastor.
