Over the past several years, members and friends have participated in dozens of mission projects, which we call “Acts of Compassion.” We invite anyone from the church or the community to participate. Some recent Acts of Compassion have been:
- Feed My Starving Children – We have packed meals to send to children of the world who are hungry. Most recently, we have worked with FMSC packing meals to send to Haiti.
- Greater Chicago Food Depository – These “food rescues” from food conventions in our area are not only great fun, but provide fresh, high quality food to the plates of hungry and homeless people
- Cornerstone Community Outreach – Members and friends have helped at Cornerstone (a shelter for women and children) in many capacities, including serving meals, playing with children, and spending time with those who come to the shelter.
- WINGS – Preparing backpacks for children in need, and straightening out the food pantry are just some of the activities we have participated in at this organization which provides assistance to homeless and abused women & children.
- Preparing care packages to servicemen and women stationed overseas has been a strongly supported Act of Compassion.
- The Moorings – Planning seasonal crafts and sing-alongs at this retirement center have been the focus of our activities there.
